US School District Academic Calendars (2026-27)

K12Cal is a neutral reference for public school district academic calendars in the United States. A published calendar lists the first day of school, the last day, holidays, and breaks, with a link to the district's official source and the date those dates were last verified. K12Cal does not operate schools and does not estimate dates a district has not published.

Published 2026-27 calendars

Each link goes to the district calendar page, which is the reference URL for that district. The year URL repeats the same dates and uses the district page as its canonical address while 2026-27 is the current year.

What a district calendar includes

A published calendar names the district and the school year, then gives three facts up front: the first day of school, the last day of school, and the next break as of the last verification date. The table lists student holidays, fall break, Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break. It also lists a February break or intersession when the district has one, and early-release days when the district lists them. Staff development days are included when the district marks them as student holidays. The page ends with the official source and the last-verified date.

How dates get on this site

K12Cal publishes a date only when an official district calendar states it. The state directories still list the large districts that do not have a verified calendar yet, with a link to the district website when the directory has one. Those rows are not calendar pages, and they do not contain guessed start dates. Read the full rule on how K12Cal checks dates.

Questions

What is a school district academic calendar?

It is the district's schedule for one school year: the first day students attend, the last day, holidays, and breaks such as Thanksgiving, winter, and spring. A district may also list early-release days. K12Cal publishes the district calendar, not a single school's bell schedule.

How does K12Cal verify a date?

A date is published only when it appears on the district's official calendar or on a district page that presents that calendar. The calendar page links to that source and shows the date K12Cal last verified it. Unclear dates and third-party dates are left out.

Why is a large district listed without dates?

State pages list 600 districts from an NCES directory of large U.S. school districts, plus any other district that has a published calendar. A calendar page is added only after the dates are verified. K12Cal currently publishes 149 district calendars for 2026-27 and does not guess the rest.
